Water and Wastewater Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Utility Maintenance Technician to join our team at the City of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks related to our water supply and wastewater treatment systems.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect and repair water treatment equipment, pumping stations, reservoirs, wells, meters, and other elements of the water supply and distribution systems.
- Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
- Clean equipment and perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety, security, and industry standards.
- Perform labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including pavement cutting, ditch digging, line cleaning, main and pipe repair, laying and backfilling.
- Make water service connections to water mains, including line tapping and valve installing.
- Operate, maintain, and repair malfunctions at the wastewater treatment plant, including repairing gauges, pumps, filters, and other controls and equipment.
- Operate and maintain wastewater pump stations, clean wet wells, and operate pumps and valves to control and adjust flow and treatment process.
- Assist with the wastewater treatment operation and record statistical data concerning wastewater treatment plant operations.
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and two (2) years of experience relating to construction, maintenance, or repair.
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's License and a Valid Texas Class B Commercial Driver's License or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) training.
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
