Job Summary

The Patient Service Representative is the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive experience. This role is responsible for scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, and answering telephones in a timely and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule and reschedule patient appointments based on physician availability
  • Greet visitors and patients, providing a warm and welcoming environment
  • Answer telephones, respond to messages, and direct calls to the appropriate personnel
  • Enter and update patient registration data and accounts
  • Photocopy documents as required and maintain accurate records
  • Pre-certify patients when necessary and process referral requests
  • Transcribe letters and memos as required and maintain confidentiality
  • Maintain computer backups and ensure data integrity
  • Process and sort mail, and respond to correspondence
  • Communicate with insurance companies and resolve billing inquiries
  • Correct and edit transcriptions, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
  • Stock and order supplies, maintaining a well-stocked and organized workspace
  • Adhere to Hospital Hand Hygiene Standards and promote a safe and healthy environment
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
Working Conditions
  • Potential exposure to abusive and/or aggressive individuals
  • Work with computers, typing, reading, and writing
