Job Summary

As a key member of the HD Supply team, the Delivery Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient delivery of customer orders. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist delivery drivers with customer orders, including loading and off-loading product, interfacing with customers, and ensuring all safety procedures and practices are followed and maintained.
  • Inspect deliveries prior to load to ensure customer orders are accurate and free of damage.
  • Assist with loading and unloading merchandise into and out of delivery vehicles using powered and non-powered material handling equipment.
  • Makes customer calls before and during delivery to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products.
  • Interfaces with customers regarding orders, including providing proof of delivery and resolving basic customer service issues.
  • Relays escalated customer concerns to distribution center leadership.
  • Performs general warehouse duties as needed, including receiving and processing inventory, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; prior experience in a warehouse or logistics environment preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues and customers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.

Work Environment

  • Typically located in a warehouse environment with regular exposure to factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes.
  • Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or equipment that may be heavy (50+ pounds) or awkward.
