Job Summary:

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a highly skilled Grant Writer (Technical Writer - Intermediate Professional) to support the research mission of the Energy Institute (EI) and Earth and Environmental Systems Institute (EESI) housed within the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS).

Key Responsibilities:

Research and identify grant opportunities from local, state, and federal government agencies as well as research foundations.
Facilitate the formation of project teams to develop collaborative research proposals and provide logistical support to such teams.
Write and edit non-technical sections and provide support for technical sections as requested, ensuring compliance with proposal guidelines, internal processes, and policies.
Assist Principal Investigators (PIs) with team development as well as internal and external partnerships.
Collaborate with strategic partners across Penn State and externally to identify content for non-technical sections.
Develop a list of new grant prospects and prepare summary memos for each.
Collaborate closely with institute leadership, PIs, the finance department, the college's graduate office, and various sub-units to gather necessary information for budget, project cost-share contributions, and details about sub-awards.
Prepare and submit regular reports to funding agencies, providing updates on grant activities, achievements, and outcomes.
Schedule, coordinate, facilitate, and document planning meetings.
Provide updates and send progress summaries to PIs and directors.
Communicate the proposal strategy and progress to other organizational stakeholders, obtain input, and sign off on content from other departments as needed.
Create and maintain a repository of grant support documents; track the progress of grant proposals submitted and their outcomes.

Requirements:

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher plus one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A doctoral degree in any aspect of Energy, Environmental, and/or Earth Sciences or equivalent experience would be preferred.

Strong research abilities with the capacity to gather and analyze information efficiently to inform decision-making.
Maintain collaborative relationships with funding agencies and relevant stakeholders.
Strong organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Proactive and self-motivated, with a demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization.

What We Offer:

This is a hybrid position that combines remote and regular on-campus work. Questions related to the hybrid work arrangement should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process. Minimal travel is required for this position may fluctuate based on business needs. The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is: $61, $89,600.00.
