UPMC is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Neurology Unit team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to adults with various neurologic disorders.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with neurologic disorders, including stroke, seizures, Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans that promote patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and monitor patient responses to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care transitions and address any concerns or questions.
- Participate in unit activities and contribute to a positive, supportive work environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues to ensure a patient-centered approach to care.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest clinical practices, policies, and procedures to provide evidence-based care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to a culture of excellence.
- Graduation from a Licensed Practical Nursing Program approved by the State Board of Nursing.
- 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a neurology or acute care environment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
