Job Title: Senior Radar/EO/IR System Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Radar/EO/IR System Engineer to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical technical leadership role in fielding next-generation Navy Radar/EO/IR and Electronic Warfare systems and land-based sensor networks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Creatively apply technical skills to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Lead and collaborate with teams of sensor engineers, software developers, combat system engineers, and physicists.
  • Develop and apply advanced modeling and simulation capabilities, data analysis tools, and machine learning algorithms.
  • Apply signal and data processing tools, including machine learning, to large data sets to develop novel algorithms.
  • Investigate and address problems due to emergent phenomenology.
  • Lead teams of radar, combat system, and missile engineers.
  • Advise and guide the strategic direction of analysis capabilities for our group and the programs it supports.
  • Develop tasking to address future program needs in collaboration with group management and program managers.
Qualifications:
  • A BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent technical field with at least 5 years of sensor systems engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of radars and/or physics-based phenomena affecting radar or communications systems.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time as needed.
  • Ability to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent technical field.
  • Experience with advanced DoD sensors and combat systems, particularly in the areas described above.
  • Experience leading technical teams.
