Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into reports of harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct, and retaliation against faculty, staff, affiliates, and non-affiliates at Boston University.
  • Collect information in an efficient and supportive manner, composing clear final reports detailing the information obtained.
  • Apply logical reasoning to make findings of fact and responsibility in accordance with University standards.
  • Facilitate informal resolution to prevent behaviors from reoccurring and bridge the gap between intention and impact.
  • Support the development and delivery of education and prevention programs.
  • Work collaboratively with campus partners to promote the EOO mission and build trust with campus constituents.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in higher education student affairs, social work, conflict resolution, counseling, JD, or a related field with three to five years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience with problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to meeting the needs of individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Ability to remain neutral and objective while handling highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion and compassion.
  • High level of personal and professional ethics.
  • Experience collecting information in a way that is both efficient and people-oriented (i.e., trauma informed and supportive).
  • Proficient ability to effectively facilitate verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to draft thorough and detailed reports by applying logical reasoning to assess complex information.
  • Ability to act both independently and collaboratively and to exercise sound judgment.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage time and tasks effectively, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain detailed records.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply University policies as well as a general understanding of Title IX, Title VII, and the ADA.
  • Openness to receiving and giving feedback and suggestions from/to other team members in service of ongoing improvement and learning.
