Position Overview

The Certified Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering comprehensive respiratory care to both inpatients and outpatients. This role involves collaboration with patients, their families, healthcare professionals, and physicians to ensure optimal respiratory health. The therapist evaluates patients' respiratory requirements, formulates care plans, and implements therapeutic interventions in alignment with institutional policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Adhere to established Performance Standards, Policies, and Professional Behaviors.
  2. Initiate and oversee mechanical ventilation, both invasive and non-invasive.
  3. Administer various breathing therapies and conduct thorough patient assessments.
  4. Execute postural drainage, percussion, and bronchial hygiene techniques.
  5. Perform bedside pulmonary function tests.
  6. Conduct blood gas punctures and analyses, ensuring proper maintenance and quality control of blood gas analyzers.
  7. Respond effectively to cardiac emergencies and Rapid Response situations, including performing CPR.
  8. Upon demonstrating proficiency, obtain certification in emergency endotracheal intubation for adult patients.
  9. Fulfill additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Possession of a valid New York State Respiratory Therapy license and certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • Current BLS/CPR certification is required.
  • NRP and ACLS certifications are highly recommended.
Core Competencies:

Effective communication and decision-making skills are essential. The candidate should be organized, capable of prioritizing tasks, detail-oriented, and possess sound judgment while working independently.
Physical and Mental Demands:
  • Ability to transport and lift heavy medical gas cylinders.
  • Potential exposure to chemicals necessary for performing job functions, with access to the hospital's Safety Data Sheet (SDS) database for information on hazardous materials.

  • Infants (29 days - less than 1 year)

Salary Range: $89,505 - $113,100 (Based on Full-Time Employment)

This salary range represents a good faith estimate of potential base compensation for this position and may be adjusted in the future based on various factors.
