Tempus Unlimited Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Employment Counselor to join our team in providing Pre-Employment Transition Services to high school students. As an Employment Counselor, you will be responsible for teaching pre-employment skills, assisting students in obtaining internships, and providing on-the-job support.
Key Responsibilities- Teach pre-employment skills to high school students, including resume writing, interview preparation, and career planning.
- Assist students in obtaining internships and provide on-the-job support to ensure successful placement.
- Develop and implement career plans that meet the individual needs of each student.
- Collaborate with schools, community businesses, and other stakeholders to provide a comprehensive support system for students.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to students throughout their internship and beyond.
- Bachelor's degree in a human services field or related field.
- At least 1-2 years of experience working with youth with disabilities, preferably in a Pre-Employment Transition Services setting.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to travel regularly to meet with students, schools, and community businesses.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English, with bilingual capabilities in Cape Verdean Creole or Spanish.
- Experience developing and implementing vocational assessments, career plans, and job placement services.
- Knowledge of Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) and Department of Developmental Services (DDS) policies and procedures.
This role operates in a professional office environment, with regular travel to meet with students, schools, and community businesses. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
CompensationThe hiring rate for this position is $22.00 per hour.
