A Day in the Life of a Nursing House Supervisor

The Nursing House Supervisor promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization at all times. They assess patient care requirements on each unit by making rounds at least every 2 hours, including all areas of the hospital. They assess the acuity of care of patients for staffing needs and develop and implement a staffing plan for the shift based on acuity, census, and available staff. The supervisor serves as a resource for staff in solving clinical problems and provides immediate follow-up, documentation, and communication of incidents to appropriate Management/Administration.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient care requirements on each unit by making rounds at least every 2 hours
  • Assess the acuity of care of patients for staffing needs
  • Develop and implement a staffing plan for the shift based on acuity, census, and available staff
  • Serve as a resource for staff in solving clinical problems
  • Provide immediate follow-up, documentation, and communication of incidents to appropriate Management/Administration
Requirements
  • Current Kansas State Nursing License
  • 1-3 years nursing experience required
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Wage commensurate with experience
