We are seeking a highly skilled Survey Crew Chief to join our team in Charlotte, NC, to lead and supervise a survey team in the field, ensuring efficient and accurate data collection.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a survey team in the field, ensuring efficient and accurate data collection.
  • Assign tasks to team members, provide guidance, and oversee their work.
  • Determine the most efficient plan of action for data acquisition, including primary control, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, right of way staking, construction layout, and more.

Field Operations:

  • Operate and maintain surveying equipment, including total stations, digital levels, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
  • Research and review land records, legal documents, and historical survey data to determine property boundaries.
  • Establish boundary markers and reference points using high-accuracy surveying techniques.

Data Processing and Equipment Maintenance:

  • Transfer collected field data to computer systems for further analysis and reporting.
  • Maintain and calibrate surveying equipment to ensure accurate measurements.

Client and Stakeholder Communication:

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Provide regular progress updates and communicate any issues encountered in the field.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure that survey data meets project specifications and quality standards.

Professional Development:

  • Stay current with advancements in surveying technology and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • An associate's degree or bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, or a related field is a plus, or relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years of land surveying experience
  • Minimum of 2 years party chief experience.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining surveying equipment and software.
