Job Description

  • Implement the Virginia Community School framework at Charlottesville High School, focusing on a caseload of 10 students per year, with a rolling basis approach.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with school leadership, community organizations, businesses, service providers, and community members, including facilitating meetings with partners.
  • Identify community needs and gaps in services, working to develop partnerships with local service providers to bring additional resources into the school to support students and families.
  • Coordinate after-school programs, tutoring/workshops, summer activities to promote student success and well-being.
  • Provide in-school support services to students and families at Charlottesville High School, including referrals and warm hand-offs to appropriate community resources and partners.
  • Work closely with school staff to identify and address student needs, ensuring seamless coordination and support.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report data demonstrating the effectiveness of community school initiatives in accordance with program goals and objectives.
  • Support students in creating academic plans to help them achieve their goals and aspirations.
  • Support student participation in tutoring and mentoring programs, as well as other external activities that foster personal growth and development.
  • Organize and promote events such as family nights, community fairs, and workshops designed to increase family participation in school and community activities.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with children, using face-to-face meetings, text messages, emails, and video calls to ensure ongoing support and connection.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Community Development, or a related field, or commensurate experience.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including students, families, teachers, and community partners.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, with a deep understanding of the challenges and needs of urban and underserved communities.
  • Familiarity with local resources and support services in Charlottesville and surrounding areas.
  • Experience in community engagement, education, or social services, with a proven track record of developing and maintaining partnerships.
  • Experience in program management, with the ability to design, implement, and evaluate effective programs that meet the needs of students and families.
  • A valid driver's license and minimum auto insurance requirements.

Salary and Benefits

Our estimated salary range for this position is $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
