Your role will be pivotal in the advancement of our cutting-edge optical instruments, which serve military, space, and commercial sectors, including Earth observation, atmospheric analysis, space situational awareness, space science, and optical communications.

As a key member of a multidisciplinary team, you will lead the design, testing, and validation processes of products from their initial prototype stages to market readiness.

Examples of your work will include a wide range of optical and opto-mechanical components, such as mirrors, lenses, and mounts; essential subsystems like fore optics and detector assemblies; and comprehensive instruments that integrate electronics and mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and write bids and proposals
  • Estimate labor requirements and timelines
  • Manage requirements and compliance evaluations
  • Conduct optical simulation and design
  • Develop optical parts packaging and drawings
  • Review and develop performance specifications
  • Collaborate with external vendors
  • Conduct customer site visits
  • Lead technical proposals while managing schedules and budgets

US Citizenship Requirement:
Due to contractual obligations, candidates must be US Citizens.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics
  • At least 8 years of relevant design and testing experience
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Eligibility for TS/SCI clearance is required

Preferred Skills:
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to various audiences
  • Knowledge of optical communications, including modulation schemes and test methods
  • Familiarity with optical communications operations and current standards
  • Experience with US space and defense contractors
  • Proficiency in costing and proposal writing
  • Experience in evaluating RFPs and RFIs
  • Ability to make timely decisions amidst complexity
  • Experience throughout the complete engineering lifecycle
  • Optical simulation experience with industry-standard tools
  • Mechanical modeling experience with software like Pro-Engineer, CREO, and Solidworks
  • Experience with Matlab
