Main Function:

As a Dietary Aide, you will assist in setting up and assembling patient trays, serving food to Arnot Health personnel and visitors, and preparing nourishments for patients. You will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appeal of dietary areas, including removing soiled linen and dishes, and rearranging furniture and equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare patient trays according to patient selective menus and place them in the retherm cart. Requisition food and supplies as needed.
  2. Serve personnel and assist in preparation of food for serving, such as toast, coffee, and desserts. Make changes in the counter and steam tables as required.
  3. Act as a cashier and perform other general tasks as directed to ensure efficient dietary operations.
  4. Clean counters, steam tables, cold tables, dining room tables and chairs, ovens, ranges, hoods, and sinks. Transport soiled dishes to the conveyor.
  5. Assist in the preparation of nourishments for between meal feedings and replenish table supplies and silver.
  6. Pass and retrieve trays for patients on selected units and prepare dishes, silver, trays, and cooking utensils for washing.
  7. Maintain a clean and orderly work area and assist in receiving and storing food and supplies.
  8. Deliver and return retherm carts and soiled tray carts to and from patient areas and special meeting areas.
Requirements:
  • High school or equivalent education.
  • Ability to read and understand food requirements for all dishes.
  • No CPR required.
  • Some physical effort or strain required, including lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, or stooping.
  • Required to be on feet for long periods of time.
