We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Certified Athletic Trainer to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a key member of our Sports Medicine Program, you will be responsible for providing top-notch care to our student athletes and supporting the UNC Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Lenoir outpatient clinic.
Key Responsibilities- Community Outreach: Develop and maintain relationships with local high school athletic programs, providing screenings, on-field treatments, and triaging of injuries under the supervision of a licensed physician.
- Casting and Patient Care: Cast patients, provide splints, braces, crutches, and other Durable Medical Equipment (DME), and educate patients on proper use and care.
- Disability Cases: Answer patient clinical phone calls in a timely manner and complete disability paperwork.
- Patient Education: Educate patients on home exercise programs and therapeutic exercise, communicating effectively with patients and staff members.
- Patient Information: Room patients, obtain necessary information, and update patient history and charts.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline.
- Licensure/Certification: Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) certification and licensure as an Athletic Trainer by the North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners or license eligible.
- Experience: One (1) year of experience as an athletic trainer preferred.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the use of relevant medical terminology.
This is a full-time position with a standard 40-hour workweek. The ideal candidate will be available to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends, to support varsity and junior varsity athletic activities.
