This role is accountable for ensuring that all products are manufactured punctually and adhere to the organization's quality benchmarks while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the planning, organization, and production of superior quality products within the unit
  • Recruit, train, and inspire production leads and operators
  • Oversee and guide the functions and responsibilities of the production teams
  • Collaborate with colleagues to proactively address production challenges
  • Ensure all necessary documentation and reports are completed accurately and promptly in accordance with company protocols
  • Provide comprehensive training to department leads and operators on GMPs, SOPs, HACCP, internal controls, and best practices
  • Uphold the organization's standards of excellence within a collaborative, hands-on, and high-performing work culture with clearly defined roles and expectations
  • Develop, justify, and execute initiatives aimed at enhancing production and quality to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and yield
  • Guarantee that products are manufactured in compliance with all company requirements regarding quality, good manufacturing practices (GMPs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), controls, and documentation
  • Ensure that department personnel accurately document and report material usage, labor hours, product, process, and equipment-related activities in a timely manner according to company standards
  • Select, supervise, motivate, and train department leads and operators in alignment with company policies and procedures efficiently and effectively
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues related to personnel, product, process, and equipment
  • Maintain high service levels to internal stakeholders and ensure departmental commitments are fulfilled
  • Actively participate and contribute during team meetings to ensure the achievement of company goals and objectives
  • Ensure timely delivery of products while meeting all customer specifications for SQF products
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned

PERFORMANCE METRICS:

  • Compliance with plant safety programs, training, and team member safety
  • Achievement of established quality performance metrics
  • Reduction of product loss, rework, scrap, and waste
  • Execution of scheduled production line 'up-time' within the unit
  • Achievement of planned direct and indirect labor hour and cost objectives within the unit
  • Attainment of yield and throughput targets within the unit
  • Implementation of improvements in efficiency and productivity targets within the unit
  • Successful completion of training and development goals and deadlines
  • Demonstration of strong relationships within and between production units, internal stakeholders, and support staff

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in food and beverage manufacturing and/or co-packing environments
  • Proven planning, organizational, and leadership capabilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of FDA, HACCP, GMPs, and quality control systems
  • Commitment to personal safety and the safety of others by adhering to all safety protocols
  • Relevant understanding of equipment, processes, and production capabilities with the ability to implement improvements in efficiency, throughput, and quality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with ERP / MES / MRP / Shop Manufacturing Systems is advantageous

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Able to lift weights ranging from 50 to 60 pounds
  • Capable of climbing stairs and ladders
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • Ability to bend, twist, and kneel
  • Capacity to work in high-temperature environments
  • Tolerance for prolonged heat exposure
