Key Responsibilities:

The Clinical Advanced Practice Provider is a skilled healthcare professional, either an advanced practice nurse or a physician assistant, dedicated to delivering comprehensive health services to individuals, families, and communities, with a focus on health promotion and disease prevention.

The responsibilities include effective collaboration and coordination with physicians and other healthcare professionals in areas such as clinical practice, education, consultation, research, and program development.


Core Duties:
  • Conducts thorough health assessments for both acute and chronic patients.
  • Manages care for acute, minor, and episodic illnesses and injuries.
  • Engages with patients and families to provide guidance on health and illness prevention.
  • Performs follow-up examinations.
  • Evaluates and manages clients with ongoing health conditions.
  • Collaborates with patients to identify their physiological, emotional, and environmental needs.
  • Offers case management services to facilitate access to necessary healthcare services.
  • Addresses patient health concerns through telephone consultations as required.
  • Delivers services including ordering diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and recommending non-pharmacological treatments.
  • Maintains and reviews patient records and relevant documentation.
  • Conducts patient callbacks, communicates diagnostic results, and provides consultations.
  • Collaborates with physicians in reviewing patient health records.
  • Participates in on-call coverage as necessary.
  • Attends departmental meetings and contributes to committees as needed.
  • Undertakes additional clinical responsibilities as assigned by supervising physicians.
  • Promotes continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Documents all patient interactions in the electronic medical record system.

Qualifications:
For Advanced Nurse Practitioners:
  • Must be a registered nurse in the state.
  • Completion of a master's level nurse practitioner program is required.
  • Certification through a recognized nursing board is necessary.
  • Must be certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber or eligible for certification.
  • Current CPR certification is required; ACLS certification is preferred.
  • Experience requirements may vary.

For Physician Assistants:
  • Graduation from an accredited physician assistant program is essential.
  • Must hold a valid license in the state.
  • Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants is required.
  • Current CPR certification is required; ACLS certification is preferred.

Work Environment:

Potential exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous substances, and other conditions typical of a healthcare setting. The role involves constant interaction with patients and may be stressful at times due to the nature of the work.


Physical Requirements:
Requires a full range of motion, including the ability to lift and handle patients, as well as manual dexterity and coordination. Prolonged periods of standing and walking are necessary, along with the ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work under stress in emergency situations or during irregular hours.
