Job Summary

The Staff Attorney will provide legal services to establish paternity, child support, and medical support, as well as enforce new and existing orders. The Attorney will provide legal advice, counsel, and litigation services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper legal representation in all child support matters related to paternity and support order establishment and enforcement.
  • Negotiate with opposing counsel, attend hearings, and perform other related actions.
  • Recommend and review legal actions.
  • Draft, review, and sign legal documents.
  • Ensure all orders contain required federal and state elements and vigorously advocate the interests of the state.
  • Update automated systems with necessary information to monitor each case through the legal process.
  • Provide legal advice to Specialists in completing documents for court filing.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with State.
  • Attend weekly project team meetings.
  • Apply knowledge of federal and state child support policies and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Requirements

A Juris Doctor degree and a license to practice law in the state where the project is located.

Desired experience in domestic relations law or as a prosecutor, with a preference for child support enforcement.
