Surgical Oncology Physician Assistant

The APP working within the ambulatory adult oncology surgical clinic setting collaborates with and is an integral member of a multidisciplinary health care team.
The APP functions primarily in the clinic, managing the care of acute and chronically ill patients related to pre- and post-surgical care.
The APP is generally on a service-aligned team and manages the outpatient care with the team.
In some instances, the APP may have responsibilities for this same patient population in the consultative inpatient setting or serve as a resource for the inpatient care team.
The APP has a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and education and is responsible for ensuring an environment of safe, quality care.
The APP demonstrates an advanced level of medical and nursing knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, professionalism as it relates to interpersonal and general communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the care of acute and chronically ill patients related to pre- and post-surgical care
- Collaborate with and be an integral member of a multidisciplinary health care team
- Function primarily in the clinic, with responsibilities in the consultative inpatient setting or as a resource for the inpatient care team
- Ensure an environment of safe, quality care through evidence-based practice and education
- Demonstrate an advanced level of medical and nursing knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, and professionalism
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C)
- MSN for Nurse Practitioners or BS for Physician Assistants
- No experience required
The physical requirements for this position include regularly sitting, standing, walking, with some pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects weighing up to 10lbs and occasional pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects up to 50lbs.
Shift: 40 hours per week with additional on-call and evening shifts as needed.
