Wild Horse Program Specialist

All U.S. Citizens - No previous Federal Service is required. CTAP and ICTAP candidates in the local commuting area.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation of programs in accordance with the Wild Horse and Burros Act and relevant regulations.
- Develop and execute essential documents such as Gather Plan Environmental Assessments and Herd Area Management Strategies.
- Collaborate as a member of the District/Field Office Interdisciplinary Team to plan, schedule, and coordinate the gathering and removal of wild horses and burros.
- Assess and monitor rangelands utilized by wild horses and burros, while also conducting and maintaining population censuses.
- Provide expert guidance and quality assurance for wild horse and burro inventories, monitoring efforts, allotment evaluations, management strategies, and environmental assessments.
- Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with other BLM offices, stakeholder groups, and state and federal agencies involved in the wild horse and burro program.
