Insight Global is currently seeking a Shipfitter to support one of our prominent shipbuilding partners. This role is essential for executing ship fitting tasks related to the maintenance and repair of naval and commercial vessels.
This position necessitates on-site work and involves physical demands, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Candidates must be prepared to work at various heights, in confined spaces, and under varying weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:- Accurately measures and removes steel and aluminum components, ensuring they meet the required specifications for reinstallation.
- Prepares metal parts for welding by tack welding them in place.
- Conducts thorough inspections of work pieces for defects, utilizing tools such as straightedges or templates to verify compliance with specifications.
- Dismantles metal assemblies or processes scrap metal using thermal cutting equipment, including flame cutting torches and plasma arc tools.

Qualifications:- Preferred: Weld Certificates from a technical institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in welding.
- Experience in structural repairs involving steel and aluminum.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to pass a MIL STD 248D certification test prior to employment consideration.
- Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items and regulatory standards from organizations such as the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and the United States Coast Guard (USCG).
