Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain aseptic surgical environments, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and care.
  • Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during procedures, providing support and maintaining a sterile field.
  • Operate and maintain various types of equipment used in the operating room, including tables, cameras, and microscopes.
  • Transport patients and equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to hospital protocols and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure seamless communication and coordination during procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain certification and stay up-to-date with the latest surgical techniques and technologies.
Requirements
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months of hire.
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
  • 1 year of experience in an operating room setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn hospital software systems.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to withstand a very stressful and fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Exposed to various hazards, including mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood, and body fluids.
