Join the Greater Chicago Food Depository team as a Senior Manager of Government Affairs, where you will play a critical role in advancing the organization's legislative agenda and building relationships with local, state, and federal elected officials.

About the Role:

The Senior Manager of Government Affairs will be responsible for:

  • Advancing the Food Depository's legislative agenda at the local, state, and federal levels
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with elected officials and their staff
  • Executing the Food Depository's government affairs relationship strategy with local, state, and federal representatives
  • Representing the Food Depository at public and private events, including elected officials and preparing other staff to engage with elected officials
  • Collaborating with various Food Depository functional areas to advance advocate, partner, and elected official engagement
  • Monitoring legislative action and identifying impacts on Food Depository and partner advocacy and operations
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree plus Master's Degree or graduate level work in public policy, social work, public health, urban planning, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of work experience with at least 3 years of experience in lobbying, advocacy, public policy, community organizing, political campaign, or similar experience
  • Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local legislative processes
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills
  • Strong people skills, including ability to establish and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders
