JOB SUMMARY

The Housing Support Specialist will deliver trauma-informed, client-centered case management services to individuals facing homelessness, aiming to facilitate swift and effective housing solutions. Responsibilities include engaging with individuals in our Resource Centers and linking them to community resources that will support their journey into stable housing. The Housing Support Specialist will collaborate with the shelter team to identify prevalent challenges encountered by individuals in shelter and assist in developing strategies and procedures to address these needs on a broader scale.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to families experiencing homelessness in an emergency shelter setting.
  • Support clients in identifying obstacles and connecting them with suitable community resources.
  • Strong commitment to the Housing First model.
  • Engage and facilitate housing discussions with clients.

Case Management

  • Assist a diverse clientele on your assigned caseload to set and achieve goals.
  • Help families secure housing and address barriers to housing.
  • Utilize strengths-based practices to cater to the unique needs of each client.
  • Evaluate family needs to provide appropriate community referrals.
  • Collaborate daily with all departments to foster a healthy team environment.
  • Network with community partners to discover housing options and additional resources.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and contribute to case discussions.
  • Maintain accurate records, case notes, and statistical data as required.

Resource Collaboration

  • Deliver direct, trauma-informed case management services, including ongoing assessments, goal setting, and innovative problem-solving using community resources.
  • Accept guidance and constructive feedback from the Supervisor.

Promoting Best Practices

  • Demonstrate awareness and willingness to understand diverse populations.
  • Contribute to the Agency's commitment to enhancing awareness and appreciation of diversity.
  • Embrace the Housing First philosophy and harm reduction strategies as essential to our mission.
  • Establish and maintain healthy boundaries, guided by Trauma-Informed Care principles.

Education and Experience
  • Preferred lived, work, or volunteer experience or a degree in a related field.
  • Experience working or volunteering with diverse populations.

Ability to move 25 pounds.

Able to walk and stand for at least an hour at a time.
