About the Role

Guthrie is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will utilize high frequency sound waves and other diagnostic techniques to aid in medical diagnosis in various regions of the body.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scanning examinations as requested by referring physicians, modifying the examination as necessary and reviewing findings with supervising Radiologists.
  • Assist Radiologists or clinicians in special procedures such as percutaneous fluid aspiration or biopsy procedures.
  • Conduct routine equipment checks for resolution and quality control procedures.
  • React quickly to emergency situations, ensuring patient safety and sounding alarms as necessary.
  • Work independently on shift or on call, performing tasks with confidence and efficiency.
  • Lift, push, reach, bend, stop, and walk to care for patients, and perform stand-pivot transfers.
  • Maintain composure during procedures or exams with potential colostomy or draining wounds, and work with patients with various conditions.
Additional Duties
  • Verify images and reports of exams and send to PACS.
  • Maintain inventory of coupling agents, drugs, and other supplies, requisitioning materials as needed.
  • Obtain sterile instruments and return them to central supply for sterilization and storage.
  • Teach ultrasound technique to student technologists and complete paperwork.
  • Accept non-routine work assignments and demonstrate willingness to adapt.
  • Work a variety of shifts, including evenings, overnights, and weekends, and be in the call rotation on a scheduled basis.
  • Be on call and in the department within 45 minutes after being called for a procedure.
  • Sit or stand for prolonged periods to perform ordered examinations.
  • Perform high-level disinfection process according to policy/procedures.
