Job Title: Director Global Category Management

Microsoft Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director Global Category Management to join our team. As a key member of our Strategic Category Management Supply Chain team, you will be responsible for establishing a supply chain that can meet the ever-growing Microsoft Cloud for our customers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management, with experience in developing and executing multi-year sourcing strategies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to continuously re-evaluate and improve Microsoft procurement, and develop high-level negotiation strategies to achieve business goals.

This role requires a deep understanding of industry contracting norms and Microsoft contracting requirements. You will be responsible for facilitating negotiation of final contracts that achieve business goals, and providing strategic oversight for improving existing or establishing new Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and/or defined milestones and deliverables.

The Director Global Category Management will also be responsible for people management, including driving employee growth and development, executing projects, and managing performance. You will embody our culture and values, and work collaboratively with the team to achieve our shared goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute multi-year sourcing strategies based on business intelligence, Microsoft policies, and Microsoft-wide cross-functional buy-in from stakeholders.
  • Maintain strategic alignment with sourcing execution, Construction, Engineering, Cost, Legal, Risk, Finance, Safety, and other teams to continuously re-evaluate and improve Microsoft procurement.
  • Develop high-level negotiation strategies, organize procurement bid results, and communicate complete strategy and results to senior management.
  • Oversee supplier selection and performance management through applying subject matter expertise in procurement processes and policies, and market intelligence to develop and influence channel strategies cross-functionally and/or cross-regionally that reduce costs, mitigate risks, and enable scalable execution with consistency, accuracy, quality, and timeliness of delivery.
  • Understand industry contracting norms and Microsoft contracting requirements. Successfully facilitate negotiation of final contracts that achieve business goals.
  • Provide strategic oversight for improving existing, or establishing new, Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and/or defined milestones and deliverables, holds accountability and ownership of SLAs, and ensures compliance is cascaded down to the business.
  • Proactively segment suppliers and utilize engagement programs to improve performance and achieve business goals.
  • Direct supplier activity across multiple accounts and complex purchasing categories.
  • Always be seeking ways to streamline, automate, and simplify processes. This will include deployment of tools, proficiency in data analytics, and ability to work with IT groups to provide system requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 9+ years experience (including internships) in Data Science/Analytics, Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain, and/or Operations.
  • OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 7+ years experience in Data Science/Analytics, Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain, and/or Operations.
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of supply chain experience working with industrial electrical, mechanical, or energy products.
  • 3+ years of people management experience.
  • 2+ years of experience working on construction development projects of more than $50M in value.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
