Production and Quality Focus:
Participate in regular meetings and follow directives from the Maintenance Superintendent to prioritize maintenance tasks for both short and medium-term needs.
CMMS Management:
Administer the CMMS effectively.
Create detailed job plans that encompass safety protocols, required personal protective equipment (PPE), workforce requirements, parts, tools, estimated labor hours, best practices, and specifications.
Ensure maintenance documentation is systematically organized and easily accessible, avoiding ad-hoc storage solutions.
Revise routes and job plans based on feedback from maintenance personnel.
Maintain comprehensive equipment history within the CMMS.
Engage with maintenance staff regarding recurring issues.
Accountable for documenting history in the CMMS.
Reliability Coordination:
Collaborate with reliability teams to ensure all reliability routes, standards, and tolerances are up-to-date.
Scheduling Responsibilities:
Prepare upcoming work schedules, focusing on a 3-14 day outlook.
Aim to have maintenance team members fully scheduled for over 75% of their work hours.
Strive for 80-90% of all tasks to be ready for scheduling one week in advance, with at least 50% of the following week also prepared.
Work closely with leadership to understand job requirements and ensure completion.
Coordinate with vendors and external contractors for maintenance or repair services as necessary.
Parts Management:
Identify and procure parts and materials essential for maintenance tasks.
Collaborate with inventory teams for efficient job kitting.
Order non-stock parts for work orders to facilitate Just-In-Time (JIT) completion.
Downtime Analysis:
Review daily downtime reports and engage in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) team activities to identify and implement solutions for failures.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Generate planning and CMMS reports and distribute them weekly in accordance with established KPIs.
Essential Skills and Competencies:
Demonstrated leadership in safety practices.
Certification in trades is advantageous but not essential.
A foundational understanding of mechanical, electrical, and reliability principles is required.
Exposure to on-site vendor training seminars covering lubrication, fasteners, hydraulics, PLCs, controls, etc., is beneficial.
Additional certifications such as Noria MLT1 or Vibration Level 1 may be relevant, depending on individual and site-specific needs.
Proficient in CMMS, Oracle, and Microsoft Word/Excel.
Self-motivated with high standards of performance.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a team to achieve plant objectives.
Strong communication skills are essential.
Critical Success Factors:
Planning personnel should work closely with mechanical, electrical, and reliability trades.
Collaboration with the trades group is vital as they develop and refine preventive maintenance (PM), predictive maintenance (PdM), and corrective maintenance (CM) strategies; their engagement is crucial for the success of this role.
Active participation in the maintenance process is essential, rather than merely delegating tasks.
