Hartford HealthCare's Ayer Neuroscience Institute is actively seeking a skilled Neuro-Trauma / Neuro-Spine Neurosurgeon to enhance the surgical team at Hartford Hospital.
Hartford Hospital is a prominent 867-bed academic medical facility located in downtown Hartford. It is recognized as a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, NAEC Level 4 Epilepsy Center, and a Joint Commission Advanced Spine Center.
The neurosurgery department at Hartford Hospital is one of the most active in New England, featuring a team of 9 Neurosurgeons and over 20 Physician Assistants, performing more than 2,000 neurosurgical procedures annually. The program encompasses various subspecialties, including Functional Neurosurgery, Epilepsy, Skull Base Surgery, Complex Spine Surgery, Neurosurgical Oncology, Vascular & Endovascular Surgery, as well as trauma care.
The incoming surgeon will be welcomed with an established patient volume, primarily focusing on urgent cases, neuro-trauma, traumatic brain injuries, and spinal cord injuries, alongside complex spine surgeries. There will also be opportunities to maintain an elective practice while managing acute and urgent neurosurgical cases. Additionally, the surgeon will lead the neurosurgery collaboration with the trauma team, oversee the Head Injury Program, and act as a liaison for Neurocritical Care.

- Five dedicated Neurosurgery Operating Rooms with specialized staffing.
- Two dedicated neuroscience units and a 23-bed Neuroscience ICU staffed with neurocritical care professionals.
- Support from dedicated Neurosurgery Nurse Navigators to guide patients through their care journey.
- Collaboration with UCONN School of Medicine for a Neurosurgery Residency Program.
- Existing neurology and general surgery residency programs, offering opportunities for teaching and collaborative research.
- Access to air ambulance services for patient transport across New England.
Qualifications:
- Medical Degree from an accredited institution.
- Interest in Neuro-Trauma and Neuro-Spine Surgery.
- Board certification or eligibility in Neurosurgery.
