Role Summary:
The Lab Manager will oversee the daily functions of the laboratory, providing essential guidance to postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, and technical staff regarding laboratory operations and management, ensuring adherence to established institutional policies and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively assess the laboratory's needs and prepare accordingly.
- Manage procurement of supplies, maintain inventory levels, evaluate budget impacts, and coordinate equipment usage with other laboratories.
- Identify and troubleshoot technical issues, offering viable solutions.
- Engage in research initiatives, contributing to the interpretation and analysis of findings.
- Prepare and deliver professional scientific presentations.
- Provide training and mentorship to lab personnel on proper equipment usage and laboratory protocols.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained in accordance with regulatory standards and operational requirements.
- Monitor compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and institutional policies.
- Oversee laboratory safety protocols and ensure compliance with governmental regulations regarding animal and human subject documentation.
- Plan and coordinate work activities to optimize space utilization, equipment use, and collaboration with other projects.
- Collaborate with Principal Investigators and Human Resources to address laboratory and personnel issues.
- Supervise laboratory staff and ensure adherence to proper laboratory procedures and safety measures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or a related discipline, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Master's degree and two years of relevant experience preferred.
- One year of supervisory experience in a laboratory setting is required; two years is preferred.
Essential Skills:
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Capable of analyzing and resolving moderately complex issues.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Supervisory Role:
This position includes supervisory responsibilities over laboratory personnel.
Compensation: The annual salary for this position is $90,000.
