Key Responsibilities

The Compensation and Classification Manager is responsible for the design, execution, and management of the County's classification and compensation framework, which is a vital strategic focus for the County leadership. Acting as a trusted advisor to the Chief Human Resources Officer, this role will provide data-informed guidance on compensation strategies, ensuring competitive remuneration for all County roles. Key responsibilities include:

- Overseeing job classification for approximately 30 departments and agencies.
- Developing and maintaining detailed job descriptions.
- Managing the County's pay structures, including open-range and grade-step plans.
- Conducting salary surveys and market analyses to inform compensation decisions.
- Analyzing data and drafting reports to support salary recommendations and adjustments.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations.
- Leading a high-performing team dedicated to classification and compensation initiatives.
- Collaborating with various internal stakeholders to achieve program objectives.

Loudoun County offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including health and dental coverage, retirement plans, and generous leave policies. Relocation assistance may also be available.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess a master's degree and a minimum of four years of relevant Human Resources experience, including three years in a supervisory capacity. Experience with collective bargaining is advantageous. Preferred certifications include Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or other HR credentials such as SPHR or SHRM-SCP.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of classification and compensation principles, strong project management capabilities, and excellent communication skills. The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and effectively manage competing priorities is essential. Collaboration with County directors and executive team members is a critical aspect of this role.

Additional Information

This position is classified as FLSA Exempt and may require extended hours beyond the standard workweek. Background checks, including criminal, credit, and DMV checks, are mandatory.
