About the Role

Pediatrix Medical Group is seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will play a critical role in providing diagnostic ultrasound tests for patients and working with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations, ensuring their comfort and cooperation throughout the process.
  • Conduct ultrasonic diagnostic procedures, recording anatomical, pathological, and physiological data for interpretation by a physician.
  • Assist physicians during invasive procedures requiring ultrasound guidance, maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to strict medical protocols.
  • Maintain patient charts and records, processing sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during procedures.
  • Code services performed and submit billing work sheets daily, ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement.
  • Notify Patient Service Associates of additional services requiring authorization, maintaining effective communication with the healthcare team.
  • Recognize equipment malfunctions, take corrective action, and maintain proper operation of ultrasound equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Maintain archives/records scans, adhering to strict medical record-keeping protocols.
  • Act in a non-directive, non-judgmental manner, respecting patients' religious, ethical, and moral opinions/beliefs.
  • Recognize ethical, legal, and professional issues inherent in providing care to pregnant women, infants, and children.
Requirements
  • Current/valid certification in diagnostic ultrasound.
  • Satisfactory completion of an Allied Health Educational Program and one year on-the-job training in ultrasonography, or completion of an approved ultrasonography educational program.
  • Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
  • Provide evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements.
