As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will play a critical role in providing diagnostic ultrasound tests for patients and working collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to deliver comprehensive care.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations, ensuring their comfort and cooperation throughout the process.
- Conduct ultrasonic diagnostic procedures, recording anatomical, pathological, and physiological data for interpretation by physicians.
- Assist physicians during invasive procedures requiring ultrasound guidance, maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to strict medical protocols.
- Maintain accurate patient charts and records, processing sonographic data and other pertinent observations for presentation to interpreting physicians.
- Code services performed and submit billing work sheets daily, ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement.
- Notify Patient Service Associates of additional services requiring authorization, maintaining effective communication with the healthcare team.
- Recognize equipment malfunctions, taking corrective action to ensure optimal ultrasound equipment operation and maintaining adequate inventory of supplies.
- Maintain archives/records scans, adhering to strict data management and storage protocols.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public, upholding the highest standards of professionalism and courtesy.
- Current/valid certification in diagnostic ultrasound.
- Satisfactory completion of an Allied Health Educational Program and one year of on-the-job training in ultrasonography, or completion of an approved ultrasonography educational program.
- Maintenance or eligibility for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
- Continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements.
