Position Summary:
The Heavy Civil Foreman will oversee the meticulous preparation, construction, and upkeep of concrete-related job sites, ensuring that the crew executes tasks as directed by the Superintendent and Management. The Foreman may also operate various machinery, manage the loading and unloading of heavy materials, assist in construction activities, and follow directives from Management. They are responsible for coordinating and managing their assigned crew, ensuring accountability for performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily activities of the crew as instructed by Management
  • Guide and support crew members in their daily tasks related to structural concrete work, including roadways, foundations, elevated formwork, and concrete placement
  • Provide training and mentorship to new employees to promote optimal performance
  • Conduct daily reviews of safety practices and identify vulnerabilities
  • Manage tools, including daily cleaning and inventory
  • Oversee crew check-ins and dismissals
  • Complete daily performance logs for crew members
  • Assist the superintendent with documentation and performance evaluations
  • Report safety, performance, and attendance issues to Management
  • Prepare job sites by removing obstacles and hazards
  • Operate various hand and power tools as needed
  • Adhere to all safety protocols on the job site and report violations
  • Maintain a clean and safe job site by properly handling materials and securing tools and equipment

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction projects
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a supervisory role is preferred
  • Thorough understanding of concrete principles, including mix designs and curing processes
  • Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel; Procore experience is a plus
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Completion of the OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety Course is required (training provided if necessary)
