Job Summary:
This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. As a Courtroom Clerk, you will provide critical support to the Clerk of Superior Court, ensuring the smooth operation of the courtroom and related services.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare for and Attend Court Hearings: Prepare for and attend court hearings and trials of varying complexity and duration, ensuring all necessary documents and materials are in order.
- Issue Warrants and Summonses: Issue warrants and summonses as required, processing orders received in Court and preparing minute entries.
- Manage Exhibits: Oversee and manage exhibits submitted during court proceedings, ensuring they are properly received, processed, stored, and disposed of in accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes and judicial orders.
- Review and Check Work: Review and check the work of other clerical staff to ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Perform Other Duties: Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: A minimum of three years of progressively responsible clerical and/or administrative experience.
- Additional Requirements: Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license.
- Knowledge of: Court system rules, statutes, and regulations; Arizona Code of Conduct for Judicial Employees and Clerk of Court and Yavapai County policies; business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition; clerical office practices and procedures; current Microsoft Office software; filing and recordkeeping.
- Skills in: Customer service; time management; communicating effectively and professionally; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; organization and adherence to detail.
- Ability to: Take notes and transcribe them into a comprehensive minute entry; complete detailed work accurately; maintain confidentiality of court proceedings and documents; adhere to the Arizona Code of Conduct for Judicial Employees and Clerk of Court and Yavapai County policies; type at a minimum speed of 50 WPM; work under pressure in a dynamic environment; develop and maintain effective working relationships; keep management informed of key operating issues; remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties; handle confidential matters with discretion; work professionally and effectively with co-workers, parties, victims of crime, witnesses, and the general public.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods; sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effectively in-person and telephonically; capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists; ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
