Software Development Engineer in DevOps

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to join our team at Anthem Engineering. As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining high-performance, scalable enterprise-grade applications.

About the Role:

The ideal candidate will have experience working with software developers and site reliability engineers to design, develop, and deliver high-volume, low-latency applications and infrastructure for mission-critical systems.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Work with software developers to design, develop, and deliver high-quality software systems.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Develop cloud-native solutions using tools such as Terraform or Ansible to quickly deliver scalable applications and systems.
  • System Health Monitoring: Establish system performance baselines, conduct system performance tests, and work with site reliability engineers to ensure continuous delivery of services within organizationally defined service level objectives and agreements.
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery Pipelines: Develop and maintain pipelines to test and deliver software systems through development, testing, and production.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms.
  • Support Continuous Improvement: Investigate alternatives and technologies, present them for architectural review, and support users by developing documentation and assistance tools.

Experience and Technologies:

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle
  • Experience with no-SQL databases such as Elasticsearch or DynamoDB
  • Experience with tools including git (preferably GitHub), CI/CD (preferably Jenkins), artifact management (preferably Nexus), ticketing (preferably Jira), and knowledge management (preferably Confluence)
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience delivering and maintaining complex applications in languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, or JavaScript
  • Experience delivering and maintaining front-end web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue
  • Experience developing on, and for, Linux-based systems (preferably RedHat-based)
  • Experience developing in an Agile environment
