Intensive Care Nurse for Cardiac Pediatric Unit

**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) with 2+ years of experience in CVPICU/CTICU to work as an Intensive Care Nurse in our Cardiac Pediatric Unit. This is an 8-week contract position with 48 hours per week and variable or straight night shifts.
**Responsibilities:**
- Provide direct patient care to critically ill pediatric patients with cardiac conditions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Conduct thorough assessments, identify priorities, and intervene to improve patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families on disease management, medication regimens, and self-care techniques
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to unit-based projects
**Requirements:**
- Current CA RN License
- 2+ years of CVPICU/CTICU experience
- Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks efficiently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to float between units as needed
**Unit Details:**
The Cardiac Pediatric Unit at Rady Children's Hospital has 30-37 beds and sees post-operative cardiac surgical care, cardiology patients, complex congenital patients, acquired heart disease patients, heart transplantation, VADs, and ECMO. Floating may occur based on clinician acuity level to other units such as PICU, NICU, medical, surgical, hem/onc, and medical behavioral unit.
**Additional Information:**
- A flu shot is required
- Valid photo ID is required; bring front and back copies on the first day
- Orientation information will be sent out on the Thursday before the Monday start date
- Must bring driver's license, professional license hard copy, and all necessary certifications on the first day
