Job Overview
In this position, you will contribute to the 787 program by executing aesthetic interior repairs within the aircraft cabin. This involves working with various materials such as fiberglass, plastics, and composites, utilizing techniques that include painting and surface finishing. Your work will take place at different phases of the aircraft assembly process in both factory and flight line settings.
Key Responsibilities
+ Operate independently with minimal supervision, addressing job challenges and ensuring a tidy, organized workspace free from Foreign Object Debris (FOD).
+ Maintain effective communication with internal teams as well as external suppliers and clients, upholding professionalism and integrity.
Essential Skills
+ Proficient in interpreting engineering schematics and instructions.
+ Familiarity with appropriate cleaning procedures, surface preparation, and masking techniques.
+ Flexibility to work variable shifts as required.
+ Minimum of 3 years’ experience in aerospace fabrication or manufacturing, specifically with decorative finishes for aircraft.
+ Technical capabilities in filing, sanding, painting, applying decorative laminates, and performing cosmetic rework.
Interpersonal Skills
+ Ability to work autonomously with limited guidance.
+ Strong communication skills to interact respectfully with teams and clients.
+ Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and FOD management.
Work Environment
This role requires availability for variable shifts based on operational needs, including both 1st and 2nd shifts. The typical hours for these shifts are:
1st shift: 05:30 to 14:00
2nd shift: 14:30 to 23:00
Physical demands include rotation of the head and neck, bending, walking, standing, kneeling, climbing, and lifting/carrying items weighing less than 35 pounds. Exposure to liquid coatings, plastics, sealants, solvents, and noise is expected, along with the use of personal protective equipment for face, eyes, hands, and ears. The role may also involve working in elevated or confined spaces within both indoor climate-controlled and outdoor environments.
Compensation
Hourly rates are set at $35 for non-licensed mechanics and $40 for candidates holding an A&P license. Per diem options are available for qualifying individuals.
