Substation Electrical Engineer III

Timmons Group is seeking a highly skilled Substation Electrical Engineer III to join our Electrical Design Group in Charlotte, NC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating electrical protection and control design deliverables for various projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the preparation of proposals and scope development, including conceptual designs and execution plans.
  • Design and implement electrical protection and control systems, including panel arrangements, one lines, and AC schematics.
  • Specify equipment for procurement and factory acceptance testing.
  • Coordinate design activities with other departments, including Civil/Structural, Networks, and Transmission Line.
  • Develop and improve processes, tools, and technology implementations.
  • Provide leadership, training, and mentoring to less experienced engineers and team members.
  • Meet and correspond with clients and outside personnel.
  • Perform quality reviews for other engineers and designers.
  • Support business development and marketing initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience (completion of master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience).
  • Must be a registered Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Proficiency with National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE/ANSI Standards.
  • Knowledge of computer drafting tools, such as AutoCAD, preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
