NELCO Worldwide is seeking a skilled Project Estimator to join our team in Houston. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for assessing Diagnostic Furnish and Install projects, including both conceptual and hard bid estimates.
This role involves collaborating with our manufacturing divisions, third-party vendors, and clients directly to ensure accurate and timely estimates. Key Responsibilities- Establish Unit Pricing: Develop and maintain unit pricing for conceptual estimates, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Estimating Library and Database: Create and maintain an estimating library and database history, providing a valuable resource for future projects.
- Material and Labor Estimates: Prepare all material and labor estimates/proposals for NELCO self-performed work for Diagnostics Shielding products, meeting client expectations.
- Customer Meetings: Attend customer job and site meetings as required, ensuring effective communication and project understanding.
- Subcontractor Management: Maintain an up-to-date list of subcontractors, facilitating smooth project execution.
- Bid Form Processing: Process the owner's bid form and archive past bids, ensuring compliance and record-keeping.
- Project Requirements: Review insurance and project requirements with the administrative team for compliance, ensuring a safe and successful project delivery.
- Education and Experience: A degree in a construction discipline is preferred, and/or a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the construction industry in an estimating capacity. High School diploma or GED required.
- Work-Related Experience: 1-3 years of work-related experience required.
- Computer Systems: Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications, which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access.
- Communication Skills: Ability to read and write in English to understand basic safety instructions and take direction from supervisors; communicate effectively with staff and customers; and respond to basic questions.
- Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures with the ability to use them in routine situations. Specialized knowledge is not required.
- Job Lead Software: Familiarity with Dodge, BuildingConnected, iSqFt, and ConstructConnect job lead software.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact respectfully with other employees, professional staff, and/or external contacts to offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information, or deliver services.
This position operates in a clerical office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the individual is frequently required to move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc. The individual constantly operates a computer and other standard office equipment. The staff member in this position frequently communicates internally and externally and must be able to exchange accurate information.
