Job Title: Trial Attorney

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Trial Attorney to join our team in Southfield, MI. As a Trial Attorney, you will be responsible for handling civil litigation and trial experience with exceptional knowledge of civil procedure, the rules of evidence, no fault, and trial strategy.

Responsibilities:

* Handle civil litigation and trial experience with exceptional knowledge of civil procedure, the rules of evidence, no fault, and trial strategy* Manage a caseload where work is time sensitive* Possess strong interpersonal skills, superior oral advocacy and writing skills* Work in a hybrid role, meaning that the work arrangement calls for hours in the office and virtually* Collaborate with skilled support staff in a congenial, team-oriented, and professional work environment* Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in insurance defense litigation* Participate in volunteer events within the community and engage in a learning culture* Assist with tuition reimbursement, professional designations, employee development, wellness initiatives, and more* Visit our Careers page for more information on our benefits, locations, and the process of joining the State Farm team

Requirements:

* Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from ABA accredited law school and excellent academic credentials* Active license to practice law in Michigan and be a member in good standing with the state bar* 3+ years of civil litigation experience preferably in insurance defense including experience handling No Fault/PIP, Bodily Injury, and Premises Liability litigation* Jury trial experience is a plus* Strong automation/technological skills for lawsuit handling and courtroom presentation* Experience working in a paperless environment* Eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; employer will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work opportunity
