We are seeking a Windows Systems Engineer to support the Guard Enterprise Cyber Operations Support (GECOS) program.
This role involves IT Service Management to facilitate the operation, modernization, and expansion of the Army National Guard's global IT services, encompassing networking, computing, storage, infrastructure, applications, hosting, and program management.
The GECOS program underpins the ARNG's enterprise IT infrastructure, including its Wide Area Network (WAN), authentication and directory services, cybersecurity, application hosting, and related services. The program adheres to ITIL best practices as the foundation for its IT Service Management (ITSM) model.
Success in this position requires collaboration and a team-oriented mindset.
While self-motivation is essential for completing tasks independently, teamwork is crucial in this role.
You will engage with clients and senior personnel, necessitating clear and articulate communication skills to convey technical details effectively.Key Responsibilities of a Windows Systems Engineer:
1. Provide desktop support for both NIPR and SIPR endpoints.
2. Assist in workstation and server imaging using SCCM / MECM / InTune.
3. Manage the application of Microsoft Windows workstation and server patches, hotfixes, and STIGs.
4. Oversee the application of third-party application patches, hotfixes, and STIGs.
5. Maintain user workstation baseline configurations and administer operating systems through MECM.
6. Manage and ensure MECM client health.
7. Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
8. Develop training materials for end users on hardware and software usage.
9. Create implementation plans for software installations and upgrades.
10. Conduct advanced audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards.
Qualifications for Success:
Education/Equivalent Training Required:
High school diploma or higher.
Preferred - Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
4+ years of demonstrated experience as a Windows Workstation / Server Administrator utilizing SCCM / MECM / InTune.
Technical Skills Required:
Experience in supporting large enterprise Windows workstation/server environments.
Proficiency with SCCM/MECM/InTune for imaging and patching.
Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for task automation.
Experience in installation, configuration, and administration of Windows systems.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to understand user requirements and troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
Dependability is crucial, including consistent attendance and punctuality, following instructions, and responding to management direction.
Excellent organizational, collaborative, written, and verbal communication skills are necessary to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences, including senior military and government leadership.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.Willingness to continuously learn and stay updated on the latest security trends and technologies.
Certification Requirements:
Must possess the appropriate baseline certification(s) to achieve DoD M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II compliance, such as CompTIA Security+ CE.
Additional certification may be required within six months of hire.
Security Clearance Level Requirements:
Must have an active Secret clearance at the time of interview and maintain it.
