Job Summary:

ACCEL Schools is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Part-time School Maintenance Associate to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our school building.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the school grounds are safe, secure, and clean at all times.
  • Perform routine cleaning, housekeeping, and basic maintenance tasks as prescribed by the custodial duty listing.
  • Remove trash and recyclables, and properly dispose of hazardous materials.
  • Clean and disinfect student and staff restrooms, as well as other high-touch areas.
  • Vacuum and mop floors, and perform other cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Assist with cleaning the food service area and prepare the school for special events.
  • Perform basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs as needed.
  • Maintain the external appearance of the building, including the parking lot, playground, sidewalks, steps, and lawns.
  • Perform snow removal activities as needed, including shoveling, snow-blowing, and salting walkways and steps.
  • Buff and wax all floors as needed.
  • Report to the school on extraordinary event days, such as snow days or staff holidays, to inspect the building and ensure its safety and soundness.
  • Contribute to a positive climate and culture by exhibiting high professional standards.
  • Understand, accept, abide by, and implement the school's philosophy and mission statement in all school activities.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of federal and state criminal background checks.
  • Ability to perform physical work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to use outdoor and indoor cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to report to work outside of school opening hours.
  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability in reporting to work as scheduled.
  • Knowledge of cleaning up and disposal of hazardous and bio-hazardous materials.
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to perform simple electrical and plumbing repairs.
  • Experience in an urban setting is a plus.
