Position Overview
The Certified Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering comprehensive respiratory care to both hospitalized patients and those receiving outpatient services. This role involves collaboration with patients, their families, healthcare colleagues, and physicians to ensure optimal respiratory health. The therapist evaluates the respiratory requirements of patients, formulates care plans, and executes and assesses respiratory therapy in alignment with the institution's standards and protocols.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Adhering to established Performance Standards, Policies, and Professional Conduct.
- Initiating and overseeing mechanical ventilation, both invasive and non-invasive.
- Administering various forms of respiratory therapy and conducting patient evaluations.
- Implementing postural drainage, percussion, and bronchial hygiene methods.
- Conducting bedside pulmonary function tests.
- Performing arterial blood gas sampling and analysis, including maintenance and quality control of blood gas analyzers.
- Responding to cardiac emergencies and Rapid Response scenarios, including performing CPR.
- Upon demonstrating proficiency, obtaining certification for emergency endotracheal intubation in adult patients.
- Executing all other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- Possession of a valid New York State Respiratory Therapy license and credentialing as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
- Current certification in BLS/CPR.
- NRP and ACLS certifications are highly recommended.
Core Competencies:
Effective communication and decision-making skills are essential. The candidate should be organized, capable of prioritizing tasks, detail-oriented, and demonstrate sound judgment while working independently.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Ability to transport and lift heavy medical gas cylinders.
- Potential exposure to chemicals necessary for job functions, with access to safety data sheets for hazardous materials available through the institution's resources.

Salary Range: $89,505 - $113,100 (Based on Full-Time Employment)
