Medical Case Manager II

CorVel Corporation is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to fill a Medical Case Manager position in our Southern MD Area office. As a Medical Case Manager, you will play a vital role in facilitating the recovery of injured workers and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide medical case management services to individuals through in-person and telephonic communications with patients, physicians, healthcare providers, employers, and other stakeholders.
- Utilize your medical and nursing expertise to discuss treatment plans with physicians and explore alternative treatment options.
- Evaluate patient treatment plans for appropriateness, medical necessity, and cost-effectiveness.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient progress.
- Attend medical appointments, hospital visits, and other healthcare-related events to ensure effective care coordination.
- Implement care strategies, including negotiating the delivery of durable medical equipment and nursing services.
- Travel locally (up to 60% of the workweek/month) and occasionally overnight to meet with patients and healthcare providers.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current RN licensure in the state of operation.
- Certification as a CCM, CIRS, or other case management certifications is preferred.
- A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel to assigned locations is required.
- Experience as a RN, Medical Case Manager, or in a clinical background in orthopedics, neurology, or rehabilitation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with MS Office, including Excel spreadsheets.
