About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to join Chubb's North American Commercial Lines Solution Architecture and Engineering team as a Lead Solutions Architect. As a key member of this team, you will play a crucial role in developing the next generation of underwriting platforms and supporting systems for Chubb's Commercial Lines businesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Business Solution Architecture Designs: Collaborate with product delivery and operation support teams to design flexible, adaptable, modular, and reusable business solution architecture.
  • Technical Leadership: Lead strategic programs to success, ensuring alignment of program deliverables with defined technical solutions.
  • Code Review and Quality Assurance: Work closely with developers to review code, enforce best practices, debug critical issues, and conduct performance testing to deliver efficient and performant applications.
  • Technology Evaluation and Adoption: Evaluate, learn, and assist teams with open-source technology solutions.
  • Risk Management: Identify technology risks and develop corresponding mitigation strategies.
  • Solution Architecture Governance: Implement appropriate solution architecture governance processes and tools, maintaining a focus on design patterns and technology standards.
  • Agile and DevOps Enablement: Collaborate with product delivery and operation support teams to enable Agile and DevOps practices.
  • Technology Innovation: Explore, evaluate, and promote technology innovation within the enterprise.
Location and Travel

This role will be based out of New Jersey, with some travel required to meet with business sponsors and participate in strategy and roadmap workshops.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, preferred.
  • Insurance Domain Knowledge: Good understanding of insurance business domains, especially in commercial property and casualty space.
  • Technical Skills: Hands-on architect with experience in C#, Java, Kafka, MQ, JavaScript, Angular, Azure, AWS, and other relevant technologies.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Ability to guide and mentor development teams on sound design and coding principles, best practices in API-based, Micro Services, and Cloud environments.
  • Application Modularisation and Modernisation: Experience in application modularisation and modernisation, including adoption of Micro Service Architecture models.
  • Integration Architectures: Experience in integration architectures from Service Bus to API Mediation and Event Bus models.
  • Design and Technology Considerations: Ability to abstract up to harvest patterns and articulate design decisions with senior audiences.
  • Underwriting Platform Architectures: Extensive knowledge and experience of underwriting platform architectures, from blueprint to solution design and implementation.
  • Information Security and Risk Management: Experience in information security and risk management.
  • Cloud Solution Design and Implementation: Experience in cloud solution design and implementation of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, and hybrid models.
