Position Overview:
Under the guidance of the Director of Transportation, the Transit Safety and Training Manager is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and enhancing training initiatives for transit operators, maintenance staff, and other personnel.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement a comprehensive safety strategy for the organization.
• Manage and evaluate the performance of training staff, ensuring effective delivery of training programs.
• Direct a variety of training, safety, risk management, and security initiatives to promote safe and efficient service delivery.

Training Development:
• Establish and oversee department-wide safety training objectives and meetings for all operational and maintenance staff.
• Create instructional materials, including manuals and bulletins, focused on safety procedures and transit security.
• Monitor and assess training delivery to ensure quality and recommend resources to meet departmental goals.

Performance Evaluation:
• Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and report on performance metrics to the Director of Transportation.
• Supervise new trainers and trainees, identifying areas for further development.

Compliance and Safety Management:
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain accurate training records.
• Conduct investigations and disciplinary actions related to safety incidents and training performance.

Collaboration and Coordination:
• Work with various departments and external agencies to resolve safety-related issues.
• Participate in emergency operations and safety compliance initiatives.

Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree is preferred, with a minimum of four years of relevant experience in training or safety program management.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations is essential.

Skills:
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and effective communication skills are required.
• Bilingual abilities and experience with scheduling software are advantageous.

Working Conditions:
• The role involves both office and fieldwork, requiring physical activity and interaction with the public.
