This position is part of an ongoing recruitment for Part-Time roles on Evening and Night Shifts.

We are currently seeking several empathetic, skilled, and motivated Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to oversee care within designated units while promoting collaboration across various disciplines. In this role, LPNs will provide patient-centered care and support to our veteran residents, adhering to established nursing standards, policies, and procedures. The successful candidates will work both collaboratively and independently, ensuring clear and constructive communication with team members, patients, and their families.

Key Responsibilities (this list is a general overview and not exhaustive):

Deliver exceptional nursing care to veteran residents by assessing their health status, responding promptly to requests for assistance, and making regular observations. Administer nursing treatments, follow physician orders, and implement care plans; observe and respond to the needs for care, including medication management and patient/family education. Evaluate and assess the health status of veterans; collaborate with supervising Registered Nurses (RNs) and medical staff for treatment options. Identify urgent or emergency situations; seek assistance from RNs and medical staff, initiating appropriate emergency interventions as necessary. Work in partnership with other service personnel to ensure adherence to individual care plans for residents. Build constructive relationships with veterans and their families to foster positive interactions and support learning as outlined in the treatment/teaching plan. Document incidents involving veterans and refer to RNs for follow-up and investigation as needed. Uphold the mission, vision, and operational policies of the Veterans Home while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines. Engage in personal and professional development by attending training sessions and staying informed about healthcare trends and nursing practices. Proficiently utilize computers for completing work assignments as required.

Work Schedule:

Part-time opportunities are available (24 or 32 hours per week) on our Evening (3:00 pm – 11:30 pm) and Night (11:15 pm – 7:15 am) shifts, with alternating weekends and holidays. Note: This facility operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and may require staff to work during nontraditional hours based on operational needs.

Required Qualifications

A current, active license as a practical nurse issued by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing. CPR certification from the American Heart Association. Ability to follow both oral and written instructions effectively. Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully with others.

Preferred Qualifications

Certification in dementia care, hospice, or other relevant areas. Ability to establish effective relationships with individuals, families, and team members. Attention to detail and readiness to respond appropriately to various situations. Capacity to maintain accurate records and handle confidential information with discretion. Proficient in using computers for work-related tasks.

EMERGENCY: This role is classified as emergency personnel. During a declared State of Emergency and in adverse weather conditions, reporting to work will be necessary.
