We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Specialist to join our team at the Air Force Global Strike Command. As a Recreation Specialist, you will be responsible for organizing and leading outdoor program activities, teaching youth and adult recreation skills, and conducting outings and programs.
Key Responsibilities- Organize and lead outdoor program activities, including hiking, camping, and other recreational activities.
- Teach youth and adult recreation skills, including outdoor skills, sports, and games.
- Conduct outings and programs, including day trips and overnight trips.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive local resource inventory for program planning and referral.
- Review and analyze market data to determine program preferences.
- Develop and implement a minimum of 2 seasonal program schedules.
- Support Recreation Operations, including stocking merchandise and assisting in taking inventories.
- Participate in and lead recreation programs, including sports, games, and other activities.
- Perform interior and exterior facility maintenance tasks as required.
- Clean floors, windows, and repaint as needed.
- Ensure implementation and maintenance of required sanitation practices.
- Practice safe procedures regarding blood borne pathogens.
- Assist in Retail Sales Operations, including rental equipment checkout.
- Prepare deposits and ensure daily deposit to the central cashier.
- Provide customer information and referrals.
- Check customer eligibility.
- Collect cash, receipts, register tapes, credit card receipts, and other supporting documentation and cash checks.
- Prepare cashier reports, reconcile, and ensure proper accounting for controlled forms and inform management of irregularities.
- Sign up customers for classes, trips, and programs.
- Check out equipment, rental items, etc.
- Process facility and equipment reservations.
- Provide Quality Customer Service.
- Positively interact with all customers (i.e. greet and offer assistance).
- Required to wear Outdoor Recreation logo when on duty.
- Resolve customer complaints and problems as empowered.
- Inform Outdoor Recreation Program Manager of any major customer problems and concerns.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds, and push/pull 100 pounds.
- Specialized experience in planning, organizing, coordination, supervising, or evaluating community, industrial, outdoor, indoor, or other recreational programs.
- Experience in instructing in the principles and techniques of recreational program planning and management.
- Experience in serving in a leadership role in the programs and activities of local, regional, and/or national recreational organizations.
- At least one year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement or 1-year equivalent to at least GS-05/NF-02.
- Previous ODR experience, instructing, and/or teaching experience preferred/desired.
