Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients and processing them for laboratory testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture techniques
  • Process blood samples for laboratory testing, including labeling, centrifuging, and aliquoting
  • Enter accurate orders for laboratory tests in accordance with department policies and procedures
  • Communicate with patients and healthcare providers to ensure accurate and timely testing
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to biohazard waste procedures and proper storage and disposal of biohazardous waste
  • Perform lab-related clerical duties, including order entry, verification of test result receipt, and patient information retrieval
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Phlebotomy certification through a nationally recognized organization or training from a phlebotomy school or medical institution
  • One or more years of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting or CMA certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience performing phlebotomy on a broad range of patient types
  • Experience with processing lab specimens, transferring specimens, and handling a centrifuge
  • Familiarity with medical EMR systems
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
