Job Summary

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team in a dynamic and patient-centered environment. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of diagnostic procedures, ensuring high-quality images, and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnostic Imaging Procedures
    • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures, including radiography, fluoroscopy, and computed tomography (CT) scans, to produce high-quality images for medical diagnosis.
    • Position patients, adjust equipment, and secure immobilization devices as needed to ensure accurate and safe imaging procedures.
    • Identify patients correctly prior to procedures, using two forms of identification, and communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and physicians to ensure a smooth and efficient process.
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance
    • Operate and maintain radiographic equipment, including X-ray machines, fluoroscopy units, and CT scanners, to ensure optimal performance and image quality.
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and calibrating equipment, to prevent malfunctions and ensure patient safety.
  • Patient Care and Safety
    • Provide exceptional patient care, including explaining procedures, positioning patients, and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the imaging process.
    • Adhere to established safety protocols, including proper handwashing technique, to prevent the spread of infection and ensure patient safety.
  • Administrative and Clerical Duties
    • Enter patient information, exam charges, and other relevant data into the electronic medical record system.
    • Prepare transport requests, schedule patients, and assist with data center and clerical duties as needed.
  • Professional Development and Compliance
    • Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain certification and stay up-to-date with the latest imaging technologies and techniques.
    • Comply with established regulatory standards, including those related to radiation safety, patient confidentiality, and infection control.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Maintain active licensure as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) in the state of Illinois.
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience in diagnostic imaging, with a strong background in radiography and fluoroscopy.
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Strong knowledge of radiographic principles, including positioning, technique factors, and image quality.
    • Ability to operate and maintain radiographic equipment, including X-ray machines, fluoroscopy units, and CT scanners.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, colleagues, and physicians.
  • Physical and Environmental Demands
    • Able to lift up to 35 pounds and transport patients as needed.
    • May be exposed to ionizing radiation and infectious diseases.
